Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 23% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.8/100, a mean average of 75.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 6.1.

And don't forget the guitar strumming of The Wedding Present on How Lonely Are You? but then it indeed moves quickly to Flying Nun influences. Nevertheless a great album.
For a duo from Toronto Canada they sure are inspired by Antipodean musical influences with a wonderful jangle pop sound that channels most obviously the Go-Betweens but also The Chills (NZ) (track 5 here is “Under the Rolling Moon” and not to be confused with The Chills iconic track “Rolling Moon”), the Clean (NZ), the Bats (NZ) and appearing in the album credits with vocals (Background) are none other that The Beths another NZ band
The most interesting track for mine on ‘Modern Fiction’ is closer “Grand Final Day” which tells a very specific local Melbourne Australia tale about the Australian Football League Grand Final and being away from home as the protagonists favourite team (St.Kilda) gets beaten. Most odd for a Canadian group. Turns out this track is unsurprisingly a cover of a track by Australian Caden MacDonald from his 2020 album ‘My Footy Dreams Never Come True’ but given a guitar makeover and abbreviated lyrics
