Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.6/100, a mean average of 76.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.3.

This album really deserves to be in the top 1000. In addition to Maggie May, Stewart provides perfectly smoky vocals and folky quips over Mandolin Wind, I Know I'm Losing You, Seems Like a Long Time, and my favorite song on the album, the highly energetic title track. Should be better loved here.
The iconic Rod Stewart album. Have loved it since it was released in 1971 - when I was just 15 and it remains a favourite of mine to this day. Love the cover of Dylan's 'Tomorrow Is A Long Time' and added it to my own Dylan covers chart.
Para muchos, el mejor álbum de Rod Stewart. Aires folk, y rock acústico para un disco sensacional.
Fantastic Pub rocker
sexy dynamic great music cant imagine how many times Maggie May got Roderick laid
Such outstanding song selection.
Maggie May: One of the greatest songs ever written.
Although I had Rod Stewart Greatest Hits and liked a good few of the tracks, I was never into him enough to go get an album. Picked this up in 2016 as part of an effort to work through NME Top 100. Wasn't disappointed with two famous tracks - Maggie May and Reasons to Believe appearing. Also love Seems Like A Long Time - all good tracks on this album.
Easily Rod's greatest offering. Check out his very early work with Jeff Beck though. Great stuff.
Arguably Rod Stewart's best. No filler tracks, and his vocals have never sounded better. And, of course, "Maggie Mae" is a classic!
