Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.5/100, a mean average of 69.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.6.

Definitely second album syndrome. Was always going to be hard to follow their excellent debut. It's pleasant, but nothing special. It all sounds a bit too samey. Highlights are Sun and Sleep Alone.
Fantastic debut made for a great live band. First release off this album was Sleep Alone and sounded great when they aired it - then the album came out and wasn't a patch on the first one. Actually, it was quite nauseating.
To me its a very ok album. Never gets me fully engaged and nothing that I dislike. Never think it will be one of my favourites, but will give it a few more listens, but others will grab my attention more.
It's pretty good. Not much more
Hm ... this is really hard to rate. Tourist History was a very consistently GOOD album. Not GREAT, but every song for the most part was at least good ... but rarely anything more. Here, every song is either GREAT or AWFUL. It's very up and down. If you take it as an experience, it's very poor, but if you weed it down to the about half worth keeping, it's very good.
Look, Two Door Cinema Club is good. There’s no use in denying it. If you heard their first album, you know how good they can be and if you’ve seen them live, you know even more so how good they can be. Now if you were worried about a sophomore slump from Two Door Cinema Club, don’t worry, because this album is great. Lets get the criticisms out of the way, though there aren’t many. This isn’t exactly a departure musically for them, it sounds very similar to their first album and, while not every song on this album is great like the last one, it’s still very very good. And sure, lyrically, there isn’t a whole lot of substance here, and that is a valid criticism, though I don’t think that’s Two Door Cinema Club’s game. Their game is kinetic beats, loud guitar and catchy melodies, and they do quite well with that. “Beacon" isn’t as good as “Tourist History", but it is still very good
I blame excessive airplay on Irish radio for this album. They could have been ok, but now they're basically just a slightly cooler version of The Script.
Syndrome of the second album? Usually after the very good debut the second album is worse. The same is here. This album is less than average.
