Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.4/100, a mean average of 70.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.5.

Very forgettable album. No standout songs. Just meh. Surprising after their run of great stuff in the 90s. Maybe the millennium bug was true after all, and it only affected Pearl Jam?

Underrated! Bump this up! But seriously it's really good. Easily one of their most classic albums.

Algumas das músicas são vigorosas e a experimentação não causa estranheza.

Binaural is misunderstood. Pearl Jam enters some dark times. Where Riot Act to follow just sounds like a band that is tired, Binaural sounds like a band that is tired of the way things are politically in our country.

Vedder was outspoken about his dislike for Republican Bush and the direction of the country. It shows as Pearl Jam gets as dark as ever in their career.

It is a solid album. No classic songs here but the mood and tone is consistent.

Evacuation and Sleight of Hand are throwaways.

The rest of the album is a solid listen.

It lands in 3rd tier Pearl Jam with No Code and Lightning Bolt.

It lands ahead of only the 2 Pearl Jam skippable albums, Yield and Riot Act.

Nice work. They do what they know, nothing less, nothing more. All pretty songs, but no masterieces. Not unforgettable, not to be forgotten.

The sixth album of Pearl Jam's career, making it their "Physical Graffiti" or perhaps their "Aftermath." And I think the comparison to Zeppelin and the Stones is fitting, as they had settled in for the long haul by this point in the career. Pearl Jam was not concerned with what was going on with the Creed's and Limp Bizkit's of the era, or even trying to re-create what they had done on Ten and Vs.

The result is a collection of songs that stands up very well years later. Songs like "Light Years" and "Nothing As It Seems" are timeless Pearl Jam classics. This album is also interesting as it reflected the whole band, there were major contributions here from Jeff Ament (God's Dice & Nothing As It Seems), Stone Gossard (Thin Air, Of the Girl & Rival) and even the new drummer Matt Cameron (the music on Evacuation).

This was their first dud. It's not a terrible album or anything, and none of the stuff here is outright BAD, but nothing really goes above and beyond the way their earlier stuff did. The whole thing just feels kind of limp and generic.
