Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

This track has a Bayesian average rating of 75.8/100, a mean average of 75.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.8/100. The standard deviation for this track is 14.1.

First released as the b-side of The Beatles’ second single, this song was written in the spring of 1962 by John Lennon and was clearly influenced by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles – the guitar motif that introduces the song is derived from their 1961 song ‘What’s So Good About Goodbye’. It’s a pretty good track overall, and it resolves in a really satisfying way.

One of my favourite early Beatles tunes. Bittersweet and warm, I enjoy this song every time I decide to listen to it.

One of John Lennon's most beautiful creations. It's an absolutely lovely song, with wonderful chord changes and one of the best songs on the Please please me album. Sadly underrated and overlooked it's a gorgeous track.
