Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.5/100, a mean average of 77.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.1.

My all time favorite blues album. It's got rhythm. It's got blues. It's got boogie. The sum of all parts makes close to perfection. Fucking outstanding. Best album they've made.

The best ZZ Top album, no fillers.
La Grange as maybe their best and also most famous song overall, Waitin for the bus and Jesus just left Chicago nicely blend into each other and are followed by the also great Beer Drinkers & Hellraisers.
Completed with Precious and Grace as one of the best ZZ Top songs ever recorded.

I have this on green vinyl to match the sleeve, great title, tres hombres sounds much more inviting than the English translation! My other ZZ Top album is Eliminator, those ten years could be a lifetime. It sounds like two different bands, both of which I enjoy for different reasons. This album is much more blues based with a less commercial appeal. Le Grange and Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers are the standouts. No synths used on this album. Eliminator embraces synths and electronic drums.

not to be underestimated plenty of good bluesy down-home southern USA music here and the terrific La Grange

This is a heavy blues record. I think it's their best and maybe a little bit underrated.

The first 3 songs and La Grange are the obvious standouts. The rest of the album is decent, but the other songs sort of blend together and aren't really that memorable.

Excellent blues/rock n roll album that hasn't lost any of its luster. Arguably their best effort.
