There are gems scattered through Rust In Peace as colorful and glowing as the one shimmering on the album’s cover. Holy Wars, Hangar 18, Rust In Peace, and the RIPPING Tornado of Souls are all some of the best the metal genre has to offer.

The playing here is so primal and fierce and the production makes the band sound like caged animals unleashing feverous rage on their instruments.

Endtroducing sounds like it was made in and resides among the clouds. It’s dreamy and stormy and beautiful. An engaging and dynamic hour of excellent music. [First added to this chart: 06/11/2022]

Don’t overlook SCIENCE, a young Incubus playing their asses off and paying a nod to some influences.

SCIENCE is a romp.

One thing I think The Boatman’s Call really excels at is Cave’s mastery of simplistic little gems of songwriting. His band supports his direction with incredible detail and dynamism as usual.

If I was to make a list of my favorite songs ever, it wouldn’t be very long before I placed the album’s opening track, Into My Arms.

A masterful hour of beautiful, melodic noise-lite.

Siamese Dream captures the most glorious elements of grunge, pop, and shoegaze without treading too far in any of those territories. Top that off with some brilliant writing and you have an album that I neglected to listen to for far too long.
