I'm not sure about that. Many people here listen to a lot of 2013 releases, and I'm pretty sure there will always be someone to say something about every 2013 AOTD.

I agree. If we make it once a day, I'll be buried in albums to listen to and end up listening to none. If it's one a week I can make sure I listen to them all enough to have an informed opinion.

How about twice a week? I'm not exactly sure about the specifics, but if it's randomly chosen, I can see a lot of the top albums being chosen first, so twice a week seems to give people enough time to listen to it/comment as well as get through the albums we've all already listened to as well (I'm referring to the 2013 AOTD/AOTW)

I was gonna do it so we have a different user picking the album each week, the whole point is to include everyone. I'm on my phone atm, but when I get home i'll elaborate.

Yeah I like this idea - one a week, each week one user picks one, creates a thread, possibly a short write-up (?), then users listen and comment on it. By the end of the year and BEAMAs, everyone should have their own list of favourites.
Possible issues:
-how to decide which user gets to pick
-do we eliminate the most well known albums? Especially those that had their own thread (Yeezus, mbv, RAM)?
-maybe one week is too much, though we can always change the duration.

I suggest making it like a book club and having someone sticky it. Everyone who wants to participate throws their name in over a week and they're thrown into a randomizer to provide the presenting order; anyone who wants to join in later is thrown back. If we run out of users during the year, we re-randomize; if we reach the end of the year with too many users, the order of users that haven't presented is carried over to the next year. Perhaps every Thursday (to give people the weekend, and allow for time zones) the user planned presents the album with the title, cover, and perhaps a sentence or two on their thoughts about the album. There also needs to be at least a month's lag from year to year to allow decent releases to come out (e.g. January of 2014 would still be presenting 2013 albums).

I suggest this because it would avoid albums everyone has heard (or no one has heard but doesn't want to) from popping up. I've also never listened to an album I hadn't heard because of the album of the day threads; if a user offers up their pick personally (which they may only get once or twice a year), I am far more inclined to listen to it.

I don't listen to 2013 music that much, but I'd love to see you guys talk about recent releases. Why couldn't we even have a 2013 album of the day, in the same style as the ATOD and WAOTD?

I'm all for this. I also don't listen to much 2013 music and this would really push me to start listening to more recent music.
