I've been trying out several fashion games lately and I'm really enjoying Fashion Verse. I've tried out more games this year than I have in other years. Now I wish I'd kept better track of the ones I've tried.

II finished Gunstar Heroes for the very first time yesterday (played in Normal mode, didn't attempt Easy that time). I kept using the two Chaser (bullets following enemies) weapon combination 'cuz I'm a noob. For the last stage a combination of a Chaser and Lightning (laser) turned out way more effective as it is good for fighting an individual enemy rather than many. The final boss is not as visually impressive as many of the many many bosses and mini-bosses, but I beat it on my first try because I had enough vitality (health); had 150 and left with 20. I don't know how to dodge at least half of his attacks though.
I've had lots of fun playing this, despite losing a lot on stage 5. Eventually, I've figured out how to beat Smash Daisaku after realizing I could shoot his Bravoo Leg attack instead of avoiding it which didn't work many times, thanks to watching a walkthrough on YouTube (did I already say I'm a noob?). His health is high so it took a while to beat him, but I could do it on my first try after re-playing the game after a short break.
it's definitely one of the best games on the Sega Genesis as many say, and perhaps is one of the best or at least iconic in the Run 'n' Gun sub-genre of Platformers. I mean, Cuphead literally borrowed the dice maze stage from Gunstar Heroes. It's also one of the most visually impressive games on the Genesis, although you can't sometimes enjoy watching the visuals while intensely playing.
The weapon combination gimmick is quite a nice idea is this game, although you would prefer staying with a Chaser because it literally follows enemies and don't have to aim at almost anything at all, heck! You would rather even have one Chaser active than combining it with Fire (flamethrower), because that combination barely aims at any enemy, I only tried a bit of time though but it still sucked hard. A Force (rapid bullets) and Chaser combination is good but sometimes hard to aim with and doesn't reach to many enemies at once. Two Chaser follows every enemy, so it's definitely the best combination for noobs. I mean, why would I want to try anything else when you can make the gameplay much more comfortable?
There is less focus on the story, which I find fine. The game is good at expressing the story visually and not with a lot of text, although the ending is kinda confusing and open-ended, which is kind of sad to me.
Anyway, the soundtrack is actually pretty good, and might be one of my well-received ones. It mimics an Electro-Industrial sound with the usual FM Synthesis played in Japanese Jazz-Fusion melodies as many Japanese VGM is inspired by 80's J-Jazz acts. Really a genius combination of sounds that fits the game's style! The drumming is really interesting and drill-like, and the melodies are unusual sounding but in a good way. It is not similar to anything else I've ever listened to. The OST for Flame Zapper Kotsujin is similar in intensity, uniqueness and FM Synthesis (they both use Yamaha chips), but it's a Hardcore Techno one I think.
I recommend the game and its music, even though they both might not be for anyone.
