Oh, thanks. I meant to include that version in my post. I just forgot to do so.

Knockin' On Heaven's Door
written by Bob Dylan

I will fight this one to the death. I do not care. This is simply the worst cover version of any song. Ever. Axl Rose squeezing out his "owwOw"'s and his "doe-ewWOOOR"'s, along with the endless single heartless and empty power chords make for the WORST cover version of any song ever. As in EVER. Nothing is worse than whiny Axl, except for when he's taking a crap on a truly great song. If I were Bob Dylan, I'd have walked up to Axl Rose, and every other member of GNR who was part of this travesty and kicked them squarely in the nuts.

Others have covered this...and done much better.

From the album

Use Your Illusion II by Guns N' Roses

If you are going to cover Bob, please do so with some respect.

The original. Never better, never replaceable.

It came from a very less than great album...but it's still one of Dylan's greatest songs:

You Are My Sunshine always makes me cry because one time I saw a video or something where a man was singing it to his little baby son and it just makes you cry. And there's all these videos on YouTube of little kids singing it and the cuteness is just off the charts.

I'm glad you like it. I like most of these versions but don't care for the original version. I love Nat King Cole's version, but my favorite is Aretha's version.

I have already posted the Aretha Franklin version and the original version by Roy Hawkins in this thread. You can find those versions on page 3 of this thread, posts #26 & #27.

I remember kind of liking that slow version of He's so Fine by Jane Oliver.
And speaking of Peggy Lee, this is one I love by her where I also love the cover version.

Gloomy Sunday
written by Rezső Seress

This is also known as the Hungarian Suicide Song. The English lyrics were written by Desmond Carter in 1936. Urban legends over the last 90 years have claimed that people are driven to commit suicide while listening to the song. This has never been proven true. In addition to the Diamanda Galas recording here from 1992, there have been dozens of cover versions of this song.

From the album

The Singer by Diamanda Galás

The original version , sung in Hungarian by Pál Kalmár from 1935 titled Szomorú Vasárnap (Sad Sunday):

The best known version is by Billie Holiday from 1941:

This Masquerade - Jason Gould - 2012 - I personally like this version better than his Cubano version. I think his voice is exquisite. This is my personal favorite version.
