I Won't Back Down
written by Tom Petty & Jeff Lynne
From the 66th album by Johnny Cash in 2000. Petty sings the harmony and plays the organ on this version. Also playing are Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench from the Heartbreakers.
This is Petty's original from 1989, with Campbell playing on this recording as well. Also on the recording are Lynne (bass, synth & vocals), George Harrison (guitar & vocals) and Howie Epstein (vocals). Ringo Starr is seen in the video, but Phil Jones actually played drums.
This is a tough one as I love both artists and both versions of a great song. If I absolutely had to pick one I’d go for TP’s original but it’s soooooooo tight
The infamous drunken late night recording sessions that took place during the time of the recording of the Warren Zevon album Sentimental Hygiene in 1987 resulted in the album Hindu Love Gods. The musicians were Zevon, along with Mike Mills, Bill Berry and Peter Buck of R.E.M., and the album of covers was not originally intended for release.

I never knew that romanelli but that makes total sense. Thanks for sharing that snippet of information. In a small way, knowing that has made my day. Cheers man
The first hit for The Black Crowes was this 1990 cover of a song originally released shortly after the death of Otis Redding in 1968. It remains one of their most popular songs, and has been played consistently live by the band, often done as an extended jam. They stayed true to the original version.
