This is exceptional stuff, and you really can't go wrong with any Johnson compilation. Actually better than the big box set, which includes absolutely everything...this just takes the really great stuff and puts it on one disc. I love every song on this set. Maybe the most important music of the 20th century. _________________ Musicians play gigs.

Either that or our grandparents were right about rock and roll being evil.
Or both, I guess.

It's downright fabulous, amazing, life-changing, sexy, awe-inspiring, lovely, intimate, heartbreaking, frightening - just god damn amazing! Please please please if you haven't heard this album or if you have only once and "didn't get it", give it a listen or another chance. It's a cliche pick for favorite blues album, but I'll say this is probably my favorite blues album. It's all those things I said before and also by listening to this it really can be (was for me) very eye-opening in terms of where a lot of the styles, guitar licks and riffs, lyrics, etc come from. Like listening to this can help connect a lot of dots in terms of where a lot of music sprang from.
He wasn't the only great delta blues musician, but I rank him as the best. This album is Just ... Basicaly, I love it so so much. _________________ -Ryan
