Just a small update prior to Christmas. Over the past few weeks, I've been doing some housekeeping and have manually reviewed the album art for approx 65,000 albums and where possible have replaced bad quality images with better versions (e.g. where the artwork was blurred, badly lit, low resolution, contained watermarks etc). As a result of doing this, validation has been added when uploading images so that anything under 300 pixels is unable to be uploaded as artwork at lower sizes than this does not display very well (especially when blown up to bigger sizes). Around 5,000 images were changed as part of this exercise and around 800 identified as family unsafe & have been flagged as such (& are not displayed to non-members). This exercise also gave the chance to review some of the album data for these items and have a general tidy-up of the data (e.g. correcting release years and updating track lists).
The second part of this update focused on redesigning the primary navigation so that the menus are shorter and display better on devices with smaller screen resolutions (e.g. phones and tablets). Traffic is now coming from a wider array of devices than ever before and this is likely to be a trend that continues. In 2015, people can expect further improvements to the BEA experience on these kinds of devices.
