I had looked a bit at this chart before, but never realised that it was as interesting as it is, although more focused on punk and post-punk than my own musical interests.
Despite their presence in Rock: The Rough Guide from two-and-a-half decades ago now, I do not recall seeing the Crass in any other all-time chart on Best Ever Albums before (at all events on one that was Chart of the Day), although when I checked I found I had seen them on another one and noticed it. The same is true for Young Marble Giants, X-Ray Spex, Television Personalities and Monks, despite their only album Black Monk Time being on David Keenan’s “The Best Albums Ever...Honest” from 2003.
There are some surprises I like a lot myself. Paix is not quite Âme Debout, but is really good nonetheless, and Trader Horne’s Morning Way – which I have not yet really fully digested – did impress me when i heard it some time ago now. Stargazer is another surprise inclusion which did not really impress me as being among the bets of its genre when I had a listen – if I recall correctly – on YouTube a couple of years ago.
