Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.8/100, a mean average of 68.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 21.0.

If it weren't for Radiohead AND David Bowie (RIP) both releasing albums, this would easily take my pick for best album of 2016. I dare say, I feel it may one day go down as a landmark album in the history of metal not JUST because of the music but also the circumstances pertained to it's release. What can I say? This album is a monster and may be the most cohesive thing Sevenfold has ever produced. Arguably their opus. Oh, it's the best concept album I've heard since Pink Floyd's apex in terms of theme, scale and execution. Stories these complex and layered do not grace the realm of music very often. It is the ultimate middle-finger to the state of things in not just music and philosophies but in the fuckery of mankind as a whole.
90/100
Arguably their best work, and a huge step forward from Hail to the King in terms of inspiration and experimenting. Brooks Wackerman adds a dimension they have lacked after The Rev passed away.
That they chose to lead with a 8.33 minute long single and release the album without any promotion is a daring and brave thing to do in this era of sales and streams, so kudos to A7X for doing things their own way and making something that ultimately may be hard to approach but immensely rewarding if one takes the time to listen.
Quite interesting, but I find it a little bit boring. Maybe they drag out some of the songs, but the album is probably more inspired than late Dream Theater...
