Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.3/100, a mean average of 66.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.1.

Surely it's a very different album what you would expect from FF, but on the other hand I think it has a very mature sound. There are some weak songs, but in overall they have a complex sound which is a bit hard to fall in love with, but if you listen 2-3 times the whole album, you won't be able to erase from your ears.
As a long time fan of Franz Ferdinand, (I believe they were the second gig I ever attended) this album is disappointing. The songwriting is lackluster and the sound of this album comes off as pretentious at times. I found it hard to connect with this album emotionally. All that being said, Alex Kapranos hasn't lost his swagger as a front-man and the album has a variety of moments that are very enjoyable, especially from a technical aspect.
Esperaba algo más especial, al escuchar el sencillo recuerdo pensar, no está mal pero al final el disco se vuelve un tanto monotono y no presenta nada sobresaliente para mi gusto personal.
This is the first Franz Ferdinand album without Nick McCarthy, it is also the first one to feature a palpable change since the debut. With a more synthesised, electronic sound pushed to fore, the songs are more looser, less hard-hitting/direct than before. So it's different but Franz Ferdinand's reputation for delivering incisive, earworms sure to buzz around your cranium remains intact.
Good album with weaknesses in terms of songwriting and a very patchy production (there's heavy clipping in several songs which really bothers me). Highlights: Always Ascending, Huck & Jim, Glimpse of Love, Feel the Love Go, Slow don't kill me slow.
75/100
