I wish these 2 pieces weren't packaged together on the same album.
The cello concerto is amazing. It's a wonderful composition, but Jacqueline du Pré's interpretation of the solo piece truly brings this to new heights. I can't honestly say that it's one of my favorite classical pieces, or even my favorite Elgar compositions, but this recording is easily one of my favorite classical recordings of all time. If I were rating this portion of the album alone, it would be a perfect 5/5.
Sea Pictures is meh. It's good but nothing spectacular. The composition is mostly forgettable, though Janet Baker does a great job with it. Barbirolli and the orchestra don't get to shine as much on this piece though.
