Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 15% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.3/100, a mean average of 74.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.4.

Incredible. Imagine TV On The Radio having fun again. Much more fun.
Heard Toy in a commercial and now I want everything these guys have made. Really cool plus they've worked with Massive Attack so that's awesome.
Dabbles in the experimental and pushes the genre to deliver a consistent and engaging alternative hip-hop album. Cocoa Sugar is pareto-efficient in it structure, and really hits high when it has its moments, namely on the brilliant lead single In My View and on the frantic, pulsing Toy. The Afro-beat influences are also a real nice touch that a good dose of complexity to the record.
Good album, doesn't seem to hold as much weight as their last effort though. I do enjoy a lot of the weirder cuts on the album though.
Best Track: Holy Ghost
It was very alright. there were positives, specifically the minimal production style which paid off for the most part, but there were also negatives. My main criticism for this album is that it starts to sound very pale once you reach the half way point, as though you've already heard it all before and it's sort of a one-trick-pony. While some of the lyrical themes are quite thoughtful and engaging, they are often overshadowed by the repetitive songwriting.
Favourite track: Border Girl
This is well crafted pop music. I've given this album a few listens and it seems to get better every time.
In My View and Holy Ghost are absolute bops
Man, what happened to these guys? All their songs sound the same now.
Current AOTY contender but the way this year is shaping up, that might not last long
But it is beautiful, deep, and compelling and minimal at the same time
Simple but effective and unique...
Here's my initial reaction tweets:
"Ngl, kinda getting Death Grips+Khalid vibes...with some James Blake....tune-yards...let's see what wins out. some experimental house too maybe idk"
"This Young Father's album sounds like if TV On The Radio's Dear Science had a baby with ANOHNI's Hopelessness. fr. im only one song in rn though"
