Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. It's great to see them back, and many of the riffs are absolute zonkers- the singing, however, at times sees shoe-horned in from another record entirely. Not a masterpiece by any means, but I'll take new Sleep any day of the week.
I think that Sleep are a seriously great band but not quite loving this as much as say Holy Mountain. needs more time I guess.
Marathon of heavy guitar riffage and solos. A grand return for a band that has inspired many.
Excessively heavy metal. Just grinds you down. If Black Sabbath were depressed, they would have played like this.
I don’t know how anyone can hate this album - Sleep blend metal and chill together so effortlessly. I guess that’s why it’s called stoner rock ... amongst other things.
