Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 67.8/100, a mean average of 67.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.4.

Some good songs and some not so good songs.
Maggie Rogers has made a wonderful pop album, offering a unique sound and structure to her music. I think of moments like the tight harmonies on the chorus of "Give a Little" which feels so unique and strong for the pop genre. The album is loaded with her distinct sound, and I hope this album gets stronger reception throughout the year.
I think it's really good and quite nice for a pretty straight forward pop album. I've listened to it a few times now and still enjoy it.
Very generic. So generic that it hurts me to listen through all the way. Production sounds flat and bland, the songs just plod along without much direction, and the melodies (especially) are just so uninspired. Pretty disappointing considering I liked Alaska and was looking forward to seeing what she could follow up with.
I do not think I'm a purist who hates pop music but Maggie Rogers' music is really too commercial and generic. The instrumental are really not original and are composed of piano chord and EDM synthesizers. I did not find it really bad but the album is really empty and quickly forgettable.
5/10
Light and poppy. Nothing groundbreaking but nothing terrible
