Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.1/100, a mean average of 69.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.2.

Um dos grande álbum de blues da banda no início! Quanta energia!
Very solid early stones
Il secondo album dei Rolling Stones è un passo indietro rispetto alla freschezza ed all'esuberanza del primo omonimo. Discreto, ma è anche solamente poco di più che il contenitore di "Time is on my side".
The second UK stones album lacks the spark of their debut. It's pretty much the same content as the first, rock'n'roll covers, ballads, and a couple of generic originals. Best tracks are, down home girl, under the boardwalk, (which the stones really make their own, regardless of their bad boy image), and the excellent, time is on my side. The stones originals, what a shame, off the hook, and grown up wrong, are the kind of songs the stones would become master's of in a year or two, but at this time they're just average rock/blues tracks. As I said, it doesn't quite have the bite of it's predecessor, but is still fun to listen to, knowing the genius to come.
"Rolling Stones No. 2" spent 10 weeks at number 1 on the UK charts. The LP contains the proper version of "Somebody To Love" whereby "Now!" contains a studio run through. The proper version was not released in the States until ABKCO tacked it on to a compilation album with their release of the SACD's in 2002. This LP also contains a great cover of Muddy Waters' "I Can't Be Satisfied" with great slide work from Brian Jones. Four tracks from this LP were recorded at Chess Studios where the Stones always sounded their best as opposed to Regent Sound and RCA Hollywood. These four tracks were recorded in genuine stereo and were released in stereo on the SACD's. By ranking this LP so low, "Best Ever Albums" displays a basic misunderstanding of the importance of the British Invasion in general and the Stones in particular. While The Beatles were a better group, Jones had no wish to commercialize the blues and consequently, as faithfully as possible, fed our own African-American musical heritage back to us which most individuals of the Caucasian persuasion had never heard because "race records" did not enjoy airplay on radio stations geared to the masses.
I feel this album was recorded in kind of a rush. Solid though, I miss the days when the Stones had something to prove.
Decent record, fav; Time is on my side.
I have the American version, Now! This is a great early album from them, packed with energy.
