The mix of wild and weird is perfect on this album. From opener to closer you just get hit with hilariously ridiculous bars mixed in with raw introspection.
I prefer his rapping here, as it's more intense, but there is way too much stuff and it gets tirring rather quick.

Danny Brown, a rapper as fascinating for his flow as for his hair experiments is and will remain an eternal misunderstood in the rap game. The Detroit rapper who met J Dilla and Black Milk already has the past of a rap leader. He is a former drug dealer, he has already been approached by Roc-a-Fella and the G-Unit. But that was not enough, for easy reasons to guess. Just look at this puny rapper adorned with a strange wick that lacks the front teeth, to find that he does not really look like 50 Cent. So let's talk about this famous "XXX", his first album, entitled like that because of the age of the rapper and his explicit register. On this jubilant and psychedelic album, on this real music of drug addict, the rapper goes crazy. He goes from a clownish voice to another, more serious, and he rapped on all the modes, on disturbed beats. "XXX" is disjointed and chaotic, but it fits perfectly with the themes: the life of a Danny Brown screwed up by drugs and beer. It goes in all directions, but wherever Danny goes, and until the apotheosis of the awesome "30", it's absolutely enjoyable, fresh and alive. One of the best mixtape of the decade. Hip-hop is not dead!

If cocaine, codeine, and molly had a sound, it would be this mixtape. There are highs and lows of course but overall its a good project. Any hip hop fan would find this project worth while to hear. It's sharp, it's liquidy, and it's hype music at times
Some intense stuff, not really my type bit still grabbed my attention.
