Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.6/100, a mean average of 72.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.5.

“The Worm” intrigues with its odd ball concept and glam sounds. The instrumentation combines glam rock with theater music to create a sense of hearing a performance. Rising guitars and piano licks frame the lyrics successfully. Midway through the concept, there is a twist that has mixed effects. On one hand, it is emotionally rich, but on the other, it removes a lot of creativity and bombast from the record. This is reflected in a more down-tempo second half. Though it lacks an ending with a bang, “The Worm” remains unique enough to deserve attention.
Oh my god, what a great rock opera that’s concise, doesn’t overstay it’s welcome an, most of all, is fun! Interesting twist within and one of the most enjoyable first listens I’ve had from an album in a bit. Highly, highly, highly recommend!
Less a concept album than a fully-fledged musical universe, transcending genre and medium. Set in a disorienting anachronistic version of Medieval England – as steeped in dystopian sci-fi fantasy as it is folklore and Old English mythology – it’s part political polemic, part deeply moving psychological journey. On the surface it's a rock opera about a worm but looking deeper it's a modern parable about the impotence felt by individuals stuck inside gargantuan, labyrinthine systems of power that they are powerless to change.

Even with a complex concept to animate, HMLTD manages to raise its (already promising) level considerably, juggling between ambition and search for something unique. I'm sorry that it lacks a bit of technical and sound innovation »

Quite theatrical and overdramatic but gosh it's so catchy and fun! We adore HMLTD! Total Bowie vibes.
