Have I mentioned I'm not normal? I'm the guy that liked this album from the start, grew to love it as time went on.
But with the sound and volume he hung on it, it was almost unprogrammable on the radio for a sort of alternative and americana station. If we'd been playing Boston and Foreigner I think it would have been easy-- but they didn't try either, so maybe I'm wrong... anyway, some of his best material and well presented-- just maybe too distinct and distinguished for its own good.

Gotta say I love this haha. Love 80s synth and this is a fun album. Weird turn for Young but so was Trans but hell I love that one too haha.

I have to hand it to Neil Young, for as hair brained an attempt as Trans was, this actually is not that bad. Sure, the songs aren't interesting at all, but at least I can sit through it all at once. I didn't retch a single time listening to this. Will I listen to it again? Probably not.

I could get more behind this if the production was more polished. That might sound strange but he's the that type of guy who will go for the all out 80s sheen but do it his way, which ends up in no man's land. Should have just gone all out production. The drums just sound shit. Maybe I'm not getting the full experience on Spotify. Give me Trans anyday over this.

An album dominated by drums & synthesizer gives it a very 80's sound. Regarded as a bad album by fans, its not great, but listening to it now its not that bad. Hippie Dream, Hard Luck Stories & I Got A Problem sound ok as does the opening & closing tracks.
