Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 15% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.4/100, a mean average of 73.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.7.

fun but really only one good song
instrumental orchestration of plucky almost childlike tunes
Favorite Tracks:Giles Farnaby's Dream, Hugebaby
This is definitely my favorite Penguin Café Orchestra album. They are just so weird and charming here. The sound of someone..... oh my goodness what a mouthful of a title, but it's a really beautiful song. I also love the first track!
Ognoo approves
"The Sound of Someone You Love Who's Going Away and It Doesn't Matter"............
Isn´t this one of the most beautiful titles ever?
Truly beautiful sounds. If you cut out the Zopf Suite and place that on a separate EP and just left the four tracks as they are, I can guarantee you that this would be recognised and would be ranked higher. But now, here rests this unappreciated gem.
The austere and elegant chamber music of Penguin Cafe Orchestra is steeped in Renaissance and Baroque traditions combining elements of folk and cabaret. Exotic arrangements consisting of delicate and languid laments create feelings of nostalgic longing. This is the ensembles best and most experimental work.
