How do you critique in album that lives so far outside of expectations? One that shows clear reckless abandon for what the listener might want at any given moment? No Now effortlessly blends those all too familiar 90s boy band hooks into glitchy, dense, abysmally dark electronic music. The human brain uses different regions when listening to catchy pop and atonal ambient noise, so when this album juxtaposes some of the most sugary melodies with incoherent textures you are stuck with a unique cerebral mess both immediately gratifying and completely unsettling. The last five seconds will assure you that you have been taken advantage of.
