Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 26% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.6/100, a mean average of 72.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.7.

It was a swell surprise, superb guitar work. I never thought that Kiss goys actually play their instruments. Solid

Ok we were all shocked in 1978 that Ace Frehley could put out an entire album's worth of material by himself...that it was this good is doubly shocking. Obviously he was holding out on KISS. "Rip It Out" should have been on a KISS record...and probably also "Speedin" Back To My Baby" and "Snowblind." But as it was it led to this record being by and large the best of the 4 solo releases although Paul's is damn close and has aged better I think. This is low intellect and high intensity just like rock and roll is meant to be. Eddie Kramer gave this the exact production it needed to make Ace's guitar playing shine...but really, it is the songs that are the stars...all of the great.

one of the best if not best albums associated with the kiss phenomenon. even though a freshly solo album. has the best song of his career new york groove which has had second and third lives it seems over the years.

One OK song, this album is a prime example of over saturation.

The best of the 1978 Kiss solo albums. The only one to produce an enduring classic with "New York Groove".

Up there as one of the best hard rock albums of the '70s. No filler here, superb album with great guitar work from Frehley, drumming from Anton Fig and engineered by the legendary Eddie Kramer.

Might possibly be the best Kiss-related album period
