Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.1/100, a mean average of 74.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.9.

I don’t see how this is ranked so low, it doesn’t have a bad track on it, a little short agreed but it’s all quality, certainly should be ahead of Surfs Up and Smiley Smile.
It's a little ragged and unkempt in places, but the best tracks on it are absolute belters. The title track kicks things off with an amazing, throat-shredding Carl vocal that is an instant shot in the arm. Invigorating stuff! "Darlin'" is also a stunner, with another great Carl Wilson lead vocal (this was really his album in a lot of ways). Brian's "Here Comes the Night" and "Let the Wind Blow" are more laid back and dreamy, but very beautiful. I think this is an underrated little album. After the failure of the Smile project, The Beach Boys had some fascinating experiments leading into the 70s - this album is one of them, and I think it's well worth a listen along with some of their others from this period such as Surf's Up and Sunflower.
A true gem.
This album felt underwhelming to me. It is just too short and like on similar albums, such as Friends, there is a lot of potential in every song but it just isn't fully realised. However, there is still some gems on this album and with it being so short it does make it a very easy listen.
Admittedly did not have high hopes for this and, well, I kinda loved it. Definitely a different animal from Pet Sounds.
I have this on a CD with Smiley Smile. It's pretty underwhelming to hear this after the sublime experience that Smiley Smile is.
Nice little album with some quality jams, some pleasant vignettes and some questionable covers. Lacks the Beach Boys identity at points.
