Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 4% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 79.2/100, a mean average of 78.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.4/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 17.9.

A unique style, impossible to unrecognize. A perfect powerful crossover between the personality of a rap frontman and a hard rock background.
These guys were so kickass. No other band has mixed two genres as well as Rage. Their debut is one of the best albums of the 90s, and Killing in the Name is stupendous. They need to do a reunion tour.
Come Back!!! Please!
100/100
Their debut is not their best album, although it has many moments of greatness, of course. The one where they really put it all together with the deepest intelligence was Battle. This was an original sound that did not create a genre so much as entail so many pale, often dreadful imitations. And their own catalogue is, let's admit, quite limited. Morello, though, is one for the ages. One of the 20 best bands ever simply for making the sound they made.
the name defines the band
"Something must be done,
about vengeance, a badge and a gun.
So rip the mic rip the state rip the system,
I was born to rage against them."
"Know Your Enemy"
Debut album is ranked nr.1 in my chart. I was at a party and a friend of mine had this album and played it in random order. Next day at 9.00 am i was at the record shop to buy it.
They came up with a new sound but it was a dead end as no other band in this genre ever were interesting. Much thanks to Tom Morellos guitarplaying.
The moment I heard 'killing in the Name' I was a fan.
I don't think I could say much about Rage that people on this site wouldn't already know. They embarrassed the industry by putting the spotlight back onto meaningful lyrics and emotion with a purpose. Rebels with a cause.
On a side note - greatest concert tragedy ever - I was all set to go on an epic road trip with my brother to see Rage and Beastie Boys on a double-bill at the Gorge in Washington State, when a month before the concert, Rage broke up for the first time. Concert cancelled, trip scuttled, heart broken. I still haven't seen either band live. For shame...
