Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 3% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 80.5/100, a mean average of 79.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.9/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 17.8.

Nine Inch Nails is some of the best music I've heard. PHM, Broken, TDS and TF are especially amazing.
Trent Reznor's is one of the most unique and singular vision in music. His music is entirely his own in writing, and in some cases in recording. Production wise, he is one of the greats of all time, and the ambitiousness of his albums matches that greatness. Many complain about the weakness of his lyrics, and though he will occasionally have lyrics that definitely do not match the quality of the music he makes, he has some incredible songs lyrically. As well, I find his lyrics do a good job of painting a picture of how he (or his characters) see the worlds they inhabit. I do not consider his lyrics to be the strongest part of his music, but for the most part I do not think that he's weakened by his lyrics. Overall I think Nine Inch Nails is one of the most overlooked bands, and I think it is one of the best bands of its generation.
The band were forced to cut their excessively long nails in order to play their guitars
Apart from the three consecutive standout albums (which actually sound larger than life once you notice the effort, ideas and visions Trent put in those records) he's also a great live performer although he already peaked in the mid of the 90s. Back then I was a little kid, therefore I will never have the chance to experience the power he delivered on stage which was breathtaking during the time of the Self Destruct Tour based on footage. You simply can't expect a troubled man who dealt with social anxiety and drug consumption to stay the same forever. It's almost unbelievable that he managed his psychic pain so well. Creating music probably kept him alive and was the reason that he didn't give in.
Someone mentioned that he would replicate his old stuff, but that's not true. His sound still evolves and he delivered great soundtracks in collaboration with Atticus Ross. He's still a great visionary and I really hope for another masterpiece, but he has to figure out how to get it right with his current abilities, because, as I mentioned, everybody changes. He still has the potential to do so.
Only really listened to Downward but i highly enjoyed..starting to listen to The Fragile and it's good and uh i've heard 4 tracks for Pretty Hate Machine and they're fucking fantastic..just good instrumentation's really boost my mark up
The band that combined Industrial with Rock and Metal to create a stunning musical experience in the late 80's and the entirety of the 90's.
