Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 2% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 80.8/100, a mean average of 80.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.8/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 14.3.

The voice of a black woman and the mind of an alien trapped inside the body of a scrawny white guy.

The greatest of all time. I came from Radiohead, wich was my fav when i was a teen. Then Jeff Buckley, then Red House Painters and now I'm almost obsessed with this guy. He is the true essence behind all these magical melody craftsmen. It is very close do avantgarde, almost non singable at his best, but it is sublime and unique and deserves the attention. A guide (from worst to best):
Blue Afternoon - 7
Tim Buckley - 7
Goodbye and Hello - 8
Dream Letter (live in london) - 8.5
Lorca - 9
Happy Sad - 9.5
Starsailor - 10

Arguably most underrated artist ever.
As far as I'm concerned, Tim Buckley's incredible recording career spanned from 'Tim Buckley' to 'Starsailor'. I don't count anything after 1970. That period - '66 to '70 - is the absolute perfect example of an artist in development. It's strong, daring, calculated, and overall, very admirable. Very sad that he's not more popular.
