Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 1% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 84.9/100, a mean average of 84.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 85.6/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 16.5.

Definitely in my top 5 favourite artists. A few duds early in their career, but from Signify onwards their discography is absolutely stellar.
One of the most addictive bands to listen to of the new millenium and arguably of all time. Stellar band.
Steven Wilson does not seem to want to record a song unless he thinks it might be one of the best ever. Seriously. Those five top albums are all fucking incredible. This guy is insanely good at everything music-related.
The sheer quantity of good songs this band has is a feat in and of itself. Some 10 and a half hours of album highlights in 17 years, enough to last any music lover for decades. Just the period from 1999-2001 feels so incredibly special to me, if the band never released anything else I'd still think they were one of the greatest music acts out there.
But here we are with 10 studio albums all of similar quality and tons of b-sides and EPs.
I couldn't be happier.
I complain that this band is underappreciated and underrated but I underappreciate them myself. Listening to them a lot these days and enjoying every minute, of every hour upon hour. I take back earlier reservations about Mr. Wilson. He's a genius. One of my favourite BEA finds. Thanks again BEA! Very unique for many reason, but... quite unique that a band's ninth (!) album is considered its best? Then its 8th, 7th, etc. I don't agree, but that is how it is. Why is this band not on my local radio station with dozens of hits? Oh, yeah, because radio'd rather play the sound of muzak than the Sound of Muzak.
One of the best PRog bands post 90's if not, the best.
Of course these guys are brits.
This might very well be the best band since 1990, and it's nice to see them in the top 200. Steven Wilson effortlessly blends progressive with the more worthwhile elements of alternative, electronica, metal, and many other sources. This band defies genres. It's "prog rock" but only in the sense that Radiohead is alternative or Bowie is glam rock.
Disgustingly good, possibly my favorite band and definitely a part of my top 5 artists.
It's one of the best bands nowadays and even people who listen to it doesn't see completely how perfect and incredible it is.
By the way, the albums chart is awful.
