Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 1% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 83.0/100, a mean average of 81.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 83.4/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 18.2.

I never met Geddy, Alex, & Neal but I feel like I know them really well. That may sound corny but I have enjoyed their music beginning sometime in the 70’s. They have been a part of my life. They have been kinda like friends. Friends that have always been there when needed. Haha that sounds really corny.
A message to all of the haters….You either love Rush or you don’t. Go ahead and hate all you want. Speaking for all who love Rush…we don’t give a fuck. So quit your whining.
These guys are so musically talented, but i'm not impressed by a lot of their work. I would say Moving pictures and 2112 are fantastic releases.

The second 'heavy' band after Led Zeppelin that I got into. I first bought Archives when I was 13 or so. I just love this band. My favourite Rush album is probably All The Words A Stage. I've loved it from a young age. Favourite studio album would be Moving Pictures with Permanent Waves close on its heels.
One of my favorite bands of all time. Been on board with them since Permanent Waves. A tremendous catalog filled with smart, creative and rocking material. RIP GOAT.
I like the hits that Rush came up with throughout their career - but really never became attached to their albums or deep cuts. The band were very popular though and always on the radio. Just not my cup of tea. I think it has to do with the prog rock style of music. Not a particular favorite of mine.
My entryway into prog, and a very welcoming one.
You have to be a total goober to like Rush. I remember when I was in my young teens I would eat, breath, and sleep their albums, thinking "Oh man this is so deep!". It was like Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple but more complex. Once I started listening to Yes and Genesis, I found them less original, though. Yes were arguably even better musicians, and they straight up copied Genesis on my favorite album of theirs, Caress of Steel (Listen to watcher of the skies and then the first riff from fountain of lamneth, plus compare the one solo from fountain of lamneth to the solo from fountain of salmacis. Nevertheless, I still love them, and now that some time has passed I can enjoy them without comparing them to their influences. I'm not quite as into Geddy's vocals as I used to be, but they are an amazing group of musicians.
Probably my pick for the greatest rock band. Don't let anyone fool you - this band released some of their most amazing work (and most intricate songs) during the mid 80s. Power Windows is an underrated goldmine. Sure, the band would've been even more successful had they hired a dedicated vocalist, but they would've lost a lot of their identity as a three piece.
Easily the best rock band of all time, bar none.
I've been loving this band for 4 decades. I grew up with them, though sometimes they grew up faster than I did. The greatest artists evolve like Rush did. You listen to the 70's albums for the musicianship. The 80's albums for the hooks. Everything from the 90's on for the production quality.
