Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 72.7/100, a mean average of 71.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.7/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 21.7.

The first album it's amazing because it's "raw" and simple, the opposite of A Rush Of Blood, who shows that a good production can do wonders... but not forever. X&Y have some good songs but in Viva la Vida the love start to fade album by album, reaching the lowest point in Ghost Stories. In A Head Full Of Dreams I can handle some songs, but in Everyday Life you can sense that not only the "love" fade away, but their creativity (or maybe you can sense it since 2005?). Music Of The Spheres to me it's just an NPC album.
One of the best bands of the 2000s, their accessibility bridged the gap between the independent scene and the mainstream
Liked the first two albums, couldn't stand them after that.
They sort of took the reverse Beatles' path - first going for creative, beautiful, music, then switching for more of a pop cliché.
Althought I wished they remained to their roots, this is, without a doubt, the best mainstream band of the millenia.
Used to really dislike these guys for some reason - probably because I was an "edgy" teen who didn't like their earnestness and sincerity (or something). Now I can acknowledge they have some good music - those first four albums are solid (X & Y is a bit bloated, but still good), and both Rush of Blood and Viva La Vida are genuinely great. The latter especially is a really imaginative pop/rock album, the closest these guys have come to art rock. They're nowhere near my favourite band, but I enjoy their music up until Mylo Xyloto. After that, I'm not really interested, they strayed too far from my tastes.
The first four albums are some of the very best the 2000s had to offer. Took a big drop off after that unfortunately...
Amazing band, Best of the 2000s for me. First 4 albums are incredible. A Rush Of Blood to the Head is imo the best album of that decade.
Fronted by a genius songwriter, the songs Chirs Martin has written puts him right there with Brian Wilson and McCartney as one of the best melodists ever.
I know is cool to bash them, but I honestly couldn't care less. What pisses me off is seeing albums above AROBTH that are not even in the same league, yes, im talking about The White Stripes and The Strokes. One dimensional bands that get praised by useless critics for writing the same song over and over again. And since its praised by critics, what else could we expect in this site than seeing the same?
Coldplay went from writing the ballad of the decade (Yellow) to one of the best and most original songs I've ever heard, "Clocks". As if that wanst enough 6 years later they made a masterpiece call Viva La Vida, sounding completelly different.
Then they made a dance song, because why not, they gonna be uncool no matter what. Then came their most political album so far, "Everyday Life".
Know as one of the best live acts in the world, and rightly so, the have taken concerts to the next level.
The band with most headlines at Glastonbury, the band with most grammys of the 2000s, ups sorry, I forgot grammys only count when Arcade Fire wins them, my bad. The most covered band of the 2000s and certainly one of the most influential. Loved by rappers and djs.
All that and still Arcade Fire (which is basically Coldplay without the tunes) gets more respect and acclaimed...... Smh...
Don't Panic, Trouble, Clocks, Shiver, Violet Hill, In My Place, The Scientist, Fix You, Talk, A Message, Strawberry Swing, Yellow, Viva La Vida, Lost!, God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, Major Minus, High Speed, Paradise, Sparks, I Ran Away, Green Eyes, Bigger Stronger, Trouble In Town, The Hardest Part, X&Y, Crest Of Waves, Politik, Lovers In Japan, Moses, Arabesque, Life In Technicolor II, Spies. etc.....
Had they squashed their desire to be “the biggest band in the world,” they well could have been among the best.
First 2 studio releases are terrific, although derivative of The Bends-era Radiohead and especially The Man Who-era Travis.
Second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head—while great—would have been even better had they swapped the limp Green Eyes for any of the b-sides from the sessions, especially Animals, I Ran Away, and/or Crest of Waves.
Very overrated on this site (cuz they're British), they were good when they started, but then turned into mainstream garbage. I wouldn't rate them more than 75 at best (just for "A Rush Of Blood To The Head").
