Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 1% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 88.5/100, a mean average of 88.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.4/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 11.0.

my favorite jazz musician along with miles davis
All round amazing artist. My favourite jazz artist.
1. A Love Supreme
2. Giant Steps
3. Africa/Brass
4. Ole Coltrane
5. Blue Train
6. Meditations
7. My Favourite Things
8. Ballads
9. Ascension
10. Expression
After his death, there was a group that began quite literally worshipping him as God incarnate, and he is now officially recognized as a Saint by the African Orthodox Church. If that doesn't say anything about the quality of his music, I don't know what does.
My favourite saxophonist of all time
Cuando pienso en los más grandes artistas del jazz, dos nombres se me vienen de inmediato a la mente antes que cualesquiera otros: Charles Mingus y John Coltrane. Genios inigualables.
How does someone get this good? Whether you love all of his albums or not, one thing is certain, there is a touch of genius on all of them. Not only that, but you can feel his desire and passion for the instrument and the music on releases like My Favorite Things, Ascension, and A Love Supreme. He's one of the greatest musicians of all time.
Does anyone else find it annoying how Blue Train, Giant Steps, My Favorite Things, and Ascension keep switching around on the overall chart?
