This is an album that has recently topped my chart. It's one of those rare albums that gets not only better with every listen but you grow to realise that everything in it is sublime. There isn't a bad track on it, sure, there are some that do Not live up to the rest of the album but most any other band would kill to have it as a single. This album in a word- Class.

This album is made up of a collection of Smiths B-Sides and a couple of singles, And it's just spectacular. The album begins with Is it really so strange?, a happy tune from Ol' Moz and Marr, and soars to dizzying heights at It's close with the beautifully melancholic Asleep. Just Stellar.

The album That defined Britpop, a phenomenon That was "completely and utterly Damon's idea" and It's easy to see how, It has the same charisma as any other blur album and has a uniquely british sense of patriotism without it coming off as nationalism, Cracking.

I adore this album, everything about it screams brilliance, Wandering Genies, Singing saws, acoustic guitars, and one of the most enigmatically beautiful voices I have ever heard. Jeff Mangum's surreal yet beautiful lyrics help drive the brilliance of this album home.

On the recommendation of a friend, I decided to give this album a listen. I love it. Its unique blend of baroque pop and indie rock create this anthemic masterpiece. The album should quite simply be the soundtrack to any revolution. Win Butler's voice cuts through the tight musicianship to deliver pure poetry to your ears ("I carved your name across my eyelids. You pray for rain, I pray for blindness"). A modern classic is not a prestigious enough title for this masterpiece.

My favourite of The Smiths' studio albums and the album that cemented them as my favourite act of all time. This, to me, is the epitome of what they could achieve, with not only Stephen Street but any producer.

This album is a post punk masterpiece. Some great bass riffs and one of the most haunting voices ever to be put to music, this album is proof enough as to why Joy Division should be classed as one of the all time great british bands.

The best Beatles album. There is no two ways about it. Whilst Sgt. Pepper's revolutionized The Beatles album, Abbey Road perfected it. It is brilliant by anyone's definition of the word. I'm also hard pressed to find anything as cool as the closing medley, you can't fault it.

Like a lot of artists I used to dismiss I thought Radiohead rode their one good song to its absolute limit. Then I listened to OK Computer. This album, not the best of all time, but a damn good attempt. There is only one song that i'm not too fond of but other than that. I just adore it. The structure is taken wholly into account and the album is all the better for it.

When I first heard London Calling, I didn't really enjoy it. I viewed The Clash as one of your typical punk bands. They happen to be one of the most diverse and interesting bands that I have ever listened to. Both the lyricism of Strummer and Jones is far beyond the capability of all of their contemporaries as is a lot of the musicianship and that is one of the most interesting parts of the album. London Calling combines an abundance of outside influences mixed with their traditional punk sound and it is just a treat. Essential listening and an album that I will hold dear for many, many years to come.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 86.4/100, a mean average of 82.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 86.7/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 19.5.

I checked Tilt - it was great. If you like that kinda stuff you should really check out Nico's solo stuff, honestly so similar, I'd check 'Desertshore' and 'Marble Index' which are both very similar dark avant-garde kinda music. Also, sorta similar, you should check out Popol Vuh though they're not exactly like 'Tilt', they share some similarities in the atmospheric noises - 'Hosianna Mantra' would be the place to start, and 'In Den Garten Pharaos' is good too.
