Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 84.3/100, a mean average of 81.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 83.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 13.3.

Considering this chart's ground zero is Iron Maiden and Metallica the rest of it is pleasantly diverse, younger metal fans certainly seem more open to other genres than the sleeveless denim jacket wearing prototype. Particularly pleasing for me to see The Cool, Relationship of Command and Dear Science in the mix. My spidey sense tells me you'd like Release by Cop Shoot Cop.

Very diverse and interesting modern chart. However, like most people said in the comments, you should maybe listen to some older stuff. You'll find awesome things, that's for sure ;-)

At least now I don't feel as bad for having a chart of mostly 60s albums.

it was too difficult for me to only include one album per an artist so fairplay but surely the 90's and everything before are a bit underepresnted?

Bloody good chart, yes a lot of 2000 stuff. But screw it, obviously you've done a lot of growing up during this period, like myself. I dont think it is as easy as some think to spend endless days search the back catalogues of brilliant tunes, I try my hardest and do really appreciate some great old tunes... But I think a lot of todays stuff is also brilliant, it is just masked by the most outrageously terrible commercial music we have ever heard.

The 2000-era was definitely NOT the "Golden Era" of music as this list seems to make it out to be. If you TRULY love music...and not just hip picks, look into some of the albums that inspired your selections. Dig a little deeper and you'll love what you'll discover. I spent my entire high school years discovering really good music by hanging out at a local record shop and pretty much ignoring the flavors of the day. I guess the internet is all we have today to help guide...so, please, with all sincerity, open up to some older influences. :o)

Has several good picks, though there's no way to excuse the obscene amount of 2K albums on your chart.
