Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 2% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 84.2/100, a mean average of 83.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.6/100. The standard deviation for this track is 12.7.

Very strong end to the first half of the album. Emotive lyrics that reveal Rael's inner turmoils with trust and hope, just wanting to escape the crowded chamber. Hackett provides some really excellent guitar work at the beginning and end of the song. I think the verses could use a little more meat on the bones, musically speaking, but the dramatic conclusion with Gabriel's pained vocals and Banks' airy piano leaves me feeling almost completely satisfied after listening to this one all the way through. I think the first half of The Lamb is the stronger half in general, and this is a fine way to cap it off.
This track, paired with the iconic and serenely beautiful “Carpet Crawlers”, is the emotional highlight of The Lamb for me. The lyrics are filled with fear, doubt, and longing. The vocals are raw, soulful, and passionate. The instrumentation is stripped back, melodic, and not too complex. Any person who is going through a period of uncertainty in their life can relate to this song. Kind of foreshadows Gabriel’s solo work, too. I love this album so much
In the top 5 songs on Lamb.
That guitar at the beginning always fools me into thinking it's a saxophone for a moment.
This is a good song to help close out disc 1. It's really a sad tale of losing hope but done beautifully, closing "i'd give you all of my dreams if you'd help me find a door that doesn't lead me back again -- take me away". It's a song of being out of control in a tough spot trying hard to gain control...and hope.
