Took everything from the first two albums and turned the ornate instrumentation up to 11. Great flow, great sound, amazing songwriting.
Modern Vampires feels like the album that the band have been working towards. What has been created is evidence that indie and guitar based music can still create something artistic and fresh. The ambition pays off and it marks the end of a wonderful trilogy for the band.
A solid album & a breathe of fresh air in the music universe.

Imperfect Perfection.
I love the sound of this record. Melodic and rhythmic, but reminiscent of being in a giant closet. Sounds are sometimes distorted or echoing. The drums in particular sound like they’re hit crisply but recorded under water. It works.
As another commenter wrote, the lyrics are literate. Charming wordplay married with thoughtful considerations of the mortal and immortal. A couple songs drag, particularly in the back half of the record, but this is great listening.

Starts off a bit generic sounding, but they really switch it up on tracks 3-6. Overall, pretty great album, aside from the interminable hell that is Ya Hey.
