Anyway when I nominated 1981, I did so because it was probably the best year for music in ex-yugoslavia. Plenty of classics. Unfortunately, I didn't know many others... Thankfully, with help of some fellow users, I managed to discover some beautiful music made in this year. So I'd like to thank purple, mancsoulsister and CellarDoor for helping me with this.
Anyway, because a lot of my albums are relative unknowns, I opted for a different approach than the ol' regular "put a bunch of YT links in the post"... Tell me how you like it, and I'll maybe do the same for other matches.
It says to me the video is geo-blocked in Germany because I'm violating copyright laws or something. Sorry about that, and let me know if anybody else is having trouble viewing it.
(also, keep in mind that I can improve a lot on this ^ as it has been quite rushed today)
Anyway, so these are my albums:
1) Various Artists - Paket Aranžman

(not a typical compilation, so don't bitch)
2) Wipers - Youth of America

3) Brian Eno & David Byrne - My Life in the Bush of Ghosts
4) Television Personalities - ... And Don't the Kids Just Love It
Singles
New Order - Ceremony (the second version, released in 09/1981)
2 great albums (Dylan, Smith) vs. 2 great albums (Eno/Byrne, TVPs, this one a personal favourite). The singles win this, I like those from '81 better. Also, I definitely must listen to that Wipers album (I only know Is This Real?). I'd be curious to listen to your Yugoslavian compilation too, will see if I can 'find' it somewhere.

Youth Of America is their best. By a long shot. Extremely good post-punk album.
Nice line-up loveless I was actually scared about this match-up. 1981 has a good handful of decent albums. I figured you'd go Fire Of Love & Moving Pictures first round though
1981 is far more consistent and I'm now desperate to listen to Paket aranžman, but unless that's mindblowing I'm probably still gonna go 1975 on the strength of the Dylan and Patti albums - despite how great the three albums I've heard from '81 are, not to mention that Human League single, which is an irresistable pop song. Although I will withold my vote until I've heard at least some of Paket aranžman. It holds the key to this tie for me.
For me it kind of comes down to Patti Smith vs. MLITBOG, Youth of America and THE EPIC ...And Don't the Kids Just Love It (been on my chart since at least 1990)
1981 it is then by an absolute LAAAANNNNNDDDDSLLLLIIIIDDDEEE
Plus I love that Loveless has had the balls to put up the Yugo selections than noone knows
once I listen to that Yugo album I'll decide. everything on both teams is perfect except for Queen and Human League. ...should've gone with Don't Stop Believin'...
