Is it solipsistic in here or is it just me?

James Blake took me time to enjoy. This first album I really did not like. I thought maybe I was just crazy because it seemed like everyone else loved it and I thought it was just not too interesting. Then I listened to "Overgrown" and I really liked it, a lot. Now, this album, I think is decent. I don't think it's the aural wet dream that everyone seemed to think it was when it came out, but it's alright.

This is on my chart at 82, so clearly i really love it. This album really blew me away when it came out. I never knew at the time how emotional and soulful electronic music could be, I also never realized how interesting and creative electronic music could be made. I was (an still am just less so) a total novice in the area of electronic music. I will say that I have no idea how anyone can claim this album is emotionless (torchlin)? It's pure human emotion throughout.
I noticed that the record is almost morbidly dark. It feels as if this young British guy was channeling the deep soul blues of old black America. At times on this record it feels as if Blake is pulling up old, lost souls and conveying their deepest emotions through his voice and music. When I hear "I Never Learnt To Share" I hear something much older and deeper than anything you'd expect from a record from 2011. If you haven't heard this, do so. Dont be put off by haters (of which i am not implying anyone on this site, but more other "purists" who hate on it more than seems fitting even if the guy stopped making the music he came up making.)

Best song: "The Wilhelm Scream" "I Never Learnt To Share" and "Lindisfarne I and II"
