Interesting choices for Bad Religion, Busdriver and Xiu Xiu. Never realized you were a Xiu Xiu fan Gowi.

Yep! They are one of my favorite bands. I got into them around the same time I got into Deerhoof and Enon. Something about the emotional tones of Xiu Xiu put it over the edge for me, maybe part of it was angst or the dysphoria, who knows, but it appealed to me. Pretty much listen to them whenever they have a new one out.

Revisited this and it's fantastic. Great chart Gowi. I'm glad you got rid of the "one album per artist" rule in favor of honesty, though I do think that having an equal distribution of albums per decade sort of pigeonholes you. Either way, there's around 60 amazing albums here and 40 which should immediately go onto my wishlist.
I don't see it so much as pigeonholes me but forces me to be conscious of my taste. I think I'm just too focused on stat-lines when it comes to my lists, but I don't think going full "anarchy" would benefit me too well. IDK, maybe you're right.

Maybe it's just me, but I think limiting a chart, while having an artistic value to it, is a little counterproductive toward the point of a top 100. But I definitely understand the challenge of choosing 100 albums that are more special to you than anything. Fuck, I just updated my chart today for the first time since I completed it, and I'm already thinking of putting Tri Repetae or Selected Ambient Works in it.

Fair enough, full "anarchy" might work for some but definitely doesn't work for everyone lol. I think I just found having 20 albums per decade (10 for 60s and 10 for 10s) a little more rigid than what I'd be comfortable with on my chart. A big con of that distribution for me is that there's nothing from the 50s. But a big pro is that it eliminates recency bias (something which I admit I struggle with in my charts) while still allowing a degree of expression of your taste from the most recent decade. I don't think you should change anything about your chart, I just found the method curious and unique!

Fortunately there's not a lot of 50s records that I'm in love with that would make my Top 100. Top 300, maybe, but not Top 100.
