Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.1/100, a mean average of 72.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.2.

A great covers album - made their own way
Good selection of covers. Most are great and done very well. A couple not so much. But overall this is a decent listen
O excelente canto do cisne do Rage Against! Extraordinário!
Although it's filled with cover songs, this is actually my 2nd favourite RATM album, behind their self-titled debut. With Renegades, the band took 12 songs and gave them a brand new identity.
Best tracks: Microphone Fiend, Renegades of Funk, I'm Housin', and Maggie's Farm
It's incredible how they can do their covers completely different from the original pieces and do however a good work. Their style it's powerful and unique
Do not understand the dismissal and neglect of this rock and roll powerhouse of pure rock and funk by a band of brilliant musicians. I don't know all the originals but Maggie's Farm for example is the best cover ever of a song covered by so many others. I Love Pistol Grip, How I Could Kill, Microphone Fiend, the title track, Ghost of Tom Joad (and you know I love Bruce's original)... all amazing.
I prefer this one over 'Battle of LA' few good covers and overall good album.
An alright covers album. I've only heard about half the songs they cover and none of them are better than the originals, but they do something different with them at least.
I think I'm halfway in-between the earlier comments. While this album isn't an all-time favourite and some of the covers struggle, it's also not a poorly executed flop. Their covers of Renegades of Funk and How I Could Just Kill a Man aren't better than the originals, but take them in an entirely new direction, with such rhythmic power and aggressive tone. Rage makes each song their own, without trampling the originals. This album is worth it for those two tracks alone.
The problem with having a good sense of musical taste is that if you decide to do an all-covers album, there's no way that you can match the quality of the originals. That seems to be a problem here, as Rage (who for all intents and purposes were done as a band by this point) barely tries to make any changes or improvements on great songs from MC5, Springsteen, Iggy Pop, Cypress Hill, and even Devo. This leaves it coming off as a disjointed mess of an album that really seemed like a cash-grab going out the door. It's still Rage, so it was better than 90% of the crap that was out there in 2000, but if it's 2011 and you're reading this you may as well skip over and go straight into Street Sweeper Social Club, because that's what this album eventually led to. Only better executed.
