His solo on the first track, C-Jam Blues, is very repetitive, insistent, simple, and it builds into something amazing. Soulful and great to me; ymmv of course. Regrettably, the rest of the tracks are more conventional and less daring, tasteful takes on standards and blues, nicely developing solos without virtuoso showmanship. It's rather nice, but maybe not top tier stuff compared to his contemporaries at the keyboard. Love that C-Jam Blues, though.
