Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.0/100, a mean average of 71.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.3.

I must admit I missed this album when it was issued in 2016 but I listened to it now and I can tell you: you're in for something special. Where the growling in most of the deathmetal bands seems to be more of a technique, this is not at all the case with this female singer: Caro Tanghe's delivery in especially tracks like Second Son of R. and Needles in Your skin feel as heartfelt desperate as you can imagine. On top of that the very intense moments are mixed with very soft pieces where you can hear she can also sing. Maybe some of the songs are a bit lacking in quality but overall this is an album like a thunderstorm (I read from reviews even more so live) so definitely a name to watch for future albums.
