Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.7/100, a mean average of 76.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.6.

An extremely intricate and gorgeous record from Autechre. It seems to have been disassembled and reassembled countless times until precious shards travelling at light speed remain. As well as the glitch and IDM the virtuoso duo are known for, I hear undertones of instrumental hip-hop which are always welcome ! The centrepiece "Surripere" is stunning along with the majority of tracks on here. This is a real winner and one of my favourites from them.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I have been enjoying this album a decent amount more than Confield, which seems to be its twin in a way. Kind of the Kid A to this album's Amnesiac, except both are wildly inaccessible and almost nobody listens to either. This album feels even more vibrant and experimental to me than Confield, while also been more successful. It has an even more dynamic feel to it, as if something is always changing or happening. It never gets in that rut that electronic music, even the mighty Autechre's, tends to slide in to. Cool, mind-bending stuff.

A complex record, even by Autechre's standards, as every track seems to have been disassembled and reassembled countless times until precious shards travelling at hyperspeed remain. "Draft 7.30" is abstract yet manages to be quite beautiful in its own right. Definitely a grower rather than a record that instantly clicks, it's yet another rewarding trip from Autechre into the digital void.

This album comes close to beating out my favorite record from them. That being Tri Repeate. And just for the impressive sound palette as well as fitting what the cover of this record is trying to communicate.
