Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.3/100, a mean average of 79.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.4.

Whoever was stupid enough to not want to release this should have been fired immediately.
Thanks Graeme2, didn't know that. But all the studio talking and the sounds in the background make it look like it's a bunch of demos. Great songs nontheless
Just a correction on the comments that this is "just a bunch of demos and not a real album". This isn't true. The man himself wanted to release it as an album soon after it was recorded but it was his label that considered it to sound like demos and wouldnt do it.. They wanted them fleshed out. This is what happened and most were heard on later releases in one form or other. I doubt he would have issued this as is unless he considered it a piece of work. Pretty sure he could release endless records of just demos from the past. This is how he originally intended these tracks to be heard. I need to go back this again to see how good it is.
While it's not a real album (just the collection of demos), it works surprisingly well together. It almost feels like the 4th in Time Fades Away - On The Beach - Tonight's The Night series. Fantastic songs, great lyricism, very consistent and creates a cool moody atmosphere. Reminds me of Pink Moon in some aspects, like hearing musician's personal session.
I really like his lyricism, but overall I tune out and get bored quick. Probably more me, but it is what it is. 4 listens in and I've got nothing I really love other than some lyrical ideas. I really liked Human Highway.
This album got me through a cruddy fall semester. I've always enjoyed Neil's more acoustic takes like on Harvest, so when this came out I fired up Tidal and was amazed. He sounds so world-weary and regretful in this session.
One of my favorite Neil acoustic albums. Great versions of Pocahontas, Powderfinger and a lost gem in Hawaii.
It's a bit of a stretch to call it an album, just a bunch of songs Neil Young acoustically recorded in a night's session. But what a collection of songs. Intimate and beautiful. Some are familiar like, Captain Kennedy, and the brilliant, Pocahontas, but there's a couple of unreleased tracks in, Hawaii, and, Give me strength. As I said, not really a proper album, just a bunch of demo's really, but ii's an enjoyable listen.
