Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.8/100, a mean average of 70.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.8.

There are many distinctions between this record and its landmark predecessor, Person Pitch. For one, Tomboy isn't motivated by a personal messages that were behind the two that came before it. Instead it is a more mediated & simplified look at Lennox's usual approach to song construction, condensing the tracks into more straightforward bursts of neo-psych. Another distinction would be the fact that it does not have the peaks like "Bros" or "Good Girl/Carrots" Person Pitch had, however it lends itself to one fluctuating wavelength across its entirety. Musicality aside; lyrically Tomboy may dabble in the staple "summer" affair but you'll find that it deals succinctly with themes of spirituality throughout. Sure this may not be his solo opus but no one brings characteristic & constant innovation to every single one of their projects like Noah Lennox.
I agree halfway with the dude under me, it is super under rated, and there really aren't any weak tracks. But person pitch is a superior record, this album has more melodies but person pitch has better song structure and is overall has a much more personal touch. Also MPP and strawberry jam are better than his solo stuff IMHO.
Vastly, VASTLY underrated. Not a weak track. Superior to Person Pitch, in my opinion. As good as the the best of Animal Collective. Gorgeous from top to bottom. Damn near perfect.
Extremely engaging, experimental, poppy, etc.
Much better than the predecessor.

Great droney album. I've seen it live and it was a great droney concert.
I feel like there is something to this album that I'm still missing. Think I should try a few more times. Right now, standouts for me are Last Night at the Jetty and Scheherazade (edit: Alsatian Darn now). But with albums like these it's really the whole thing from beginning to end that is important. As I said, right now it's still not totally clicking with me, but I do believe there's something there that I could end up loving.
i thought this album was engaging, exciting, and kind of incredible
