Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 59.5/100, a mean average of 58.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 58.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.4.

Ironically, Darkness is the one bright spot on this terrible album.
Eminem proved that he still has the flow on this album.
I'm pleasantly surprised. This album isn't that bad actually. Yeah, there are some stinkers on here, and an abundance of corny lines, but for the most part I enjoyed the album.
Best Tracks: I Will, Darkness, You Gon' Learn
Worst Tracks: Stepdad, Marsh, Farewell
After the total fail of "Revival" and the half-baked "Kamikaze" my expectations were rather low. But on this one Eminem acts on a solid level and the guest list is interesting, too. I am liking the songs Darkness and Godzilla.
This album has some great song but it gets worse as it goes along. Godzilla and darkness are some of ems best songs for sure. Music to be murdered by? most of the album doesn't relate to the name. kamikaze is better.
Good points: The features really stole the show especially Black Thought, Q Tip, Anderson Paak, Royce and Juice Wrld. Great selection. Unfortunately, Eminem didn't have good verses on these songs.
Bad Points: Some of Em's cringiest bars of all time and worst hook (Little Engine, Stepdad wtf).
It wasn't as disappointing as Kamikaze, neither as interesting as The Eminem Show, MMLP or SSLP.
I'm gonna give it a little time and rate it later, as his works feel better when re-listened.
Relapse, MMLP2 and Kamikaze were bad albums, but they were listenable and had interesting ideas for repeat listens. Recovery and Revival were absolute garbage with no redeemable qualities and godawful bars. Music to be Murdered By fortunately falls into the former category... upon first listen, it seems there is much to discover. It's nowhere near the highs of SSLP, MMLP or The Eminem Show (as Eminem is ever the first to admit - he continues the references to his career highlights on this new record), but there's hope that it could be ranked above Infinite at the very least.
I guess it's better than Kamikaze and Revival but it just feels like the exact same album he's been making since Relapse. Thought maybe with the Anderson .Paak feature he'd try something different but all of the beats are interchangeable with any album he's put out in the 2010s and the lyrics are going over the same topics regardless of his talent. The thought-provoking idea behind "Darkness" is interesting and definitely the standout track but that only makes the rest of the album all the more disappointing as he shows he is still capable of doing some more than complaining over top of the same lifeless production. It's a shame he stays within his same wing of hip-hop rather than evolving and exploring new sounds emerging within the genre.
He never evolves, he makes the same shit all the time; dunno why they cal him Rap God.
