"Samā'ī" lacks the pretension that plagues a lot of modern jazz . It comfortably combines jazz fusion, afrobeat, and middle eastern music. This creates an easy to listen but fairly engaging sound. In particular, I enjoy the contrast between the sturdy base lines and high pitch pan flutes. Alternatively, a weakness is the blandness of "Zegiyitwali". It's brief quiet structure lacks as an introduction to the otherwise upbeat album. Otherwise, the sound lacks a centerpiece track to take it into glory. A sonically interesting project worth greater attention.
